Connecticut IEEE Section Membership Development Event

Dear IEEE-CT colleagues,

Please join us at the Membership Drive event this Sat Mar 24 10am-2pm at CCSU, New Britain.

We will have a number of tables:

We will provide the three references and any other help at the event.

PACE – “Intellectual Property” presentation at noon by David Bomzer, Cantor Colburn LLP

Professional Activities Committees for Engineers (PACE) organizes events on soft skills for engineers, outside of strictly technical presentations, such as IP, emotional intelligence, communication etc.

Presentation on basics of intellectual property law, including what every corporate employee needs to know about patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets. Attendees will leave with an understanding of key do’s and dont’s to make sure their intellectual property doesn’t walk out the door and to make sure they are not inadvertently putting themselves and their companies in harm’s way.

Robotics Society: The Connecticut chapter of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society has been selected as the recipient of the 2018 Chapter of the Year Award from the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society which consists of over 13,000 members worldwide.  We sponsor robotics competitions, workshops, seminars throughout the state.

Computer Society: We are the largest IEEE technical society in Connecticut and are seeking volunteer leads for event planning and coordination.

Women In Engineering: IEEE WIE is the largest international professional organization dedicate to the status and advancement of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  Previous events in Connecticut included self-defense, networking, and presentations by prominent women engineering professionals.

Power and Energy Society: The Connecticut PES chapter provides a great, low cost opportunity to gain exposure to various electric power-related facilities and experts right here in Connecticut. It is also a venue for networking and socializing with other power engineering professionals.

Student Activities: Our goal is to support student IEEE activities at all universities in Connecticut and help prepare engineering students for their careers.

Young Professionals:

What do we stand for: The community aims to bring young professionals from universities and the industry to come together to network within themselves or with the experienced IEEE members or to mentor the future engineers who are still going through middle school or high school.

What events we have hosted so far: We’ve had social networking events just to get to know other young professionals within the area. We had some mentoring events for high school students, to break down their physics and math lessons in a friendly and interactive library discussion environment. We also had panel discussions at universities to openly discuss what skills and practices are most useful for college students who are looking to get hired soon or to those who would like to pursue graduate school.
