LaTeX Workshop

LaTeX is a typesetting software system used for the preparation of professional documents. Plain text is used by the author instead of the formatted text found in WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). Formatted text is required by word processors, such as Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, or Apple Pages. It is for this reason that LaTeX is extremely lightweight, fast, flexible, and accurate. Adding a picture to a document or creating a long document will not result in a document crashing, for example. From creating high-quality vector illustrations to creating eye-catching presentations, LaTeX is used for a variety of tasks. The Internet is full of memes comparing LaTeX and Microsoft Word. The IEEE Zeta Rho Chapter at the University of New Haven is hosting a workshop on LaTeX. During this three-hour workshop, it will be discussed how to draft a paper using LaTeX with Overleaf, an online LaTeX editor. The discussion will also cover how to structure a paper and how to use the class file of a journal. Additionally, it will be discussed how to integrate graphs and tables into our document to make it more appealing. In addition, tips and tricks for making the document look more professional will be presented. The workshop will be concluded by discussing referencing and how to properly cite sources. The workshop will also include how to create a bibliography and submit a paper. Speaker(s): Mahdi Gholami Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/366079
